Mexican drummer Tino Contreras and his band toured Europe in 1962 for first time. His “jazz latino” was presented in a number of venues in Madrid such as Florida Park, Club Madison, El Biombo Chino, Whisky Jazz, Bourbon Street and Pavillón, and his successful shows were followed up by another tour in 1965.

This time he took the time to record and release two of the rarest and most sought after jazz artifacts in Spain, which seem to have remained under the radar for most collectors until very recent times.

Tino Contreras’ interest in flamenco, after getting in touch with some local artists, led him to the recording of another sessions, supposedly backed up by no other than Pedro Iturralde in a pioneer mix of jazz and flamenco.
