Flamingo from Ostrava – later also translated as Plamenáci – were established in 1966 by professional musicians who were at the same time the nucleus of the Ostrava Radio Orchestra (ORO). According to bassist Urbánek (1944–2009), on recordings they would often use either name depending on whether they liked a song (Flamingo), or not so much but it was their job to play it (ORO). They were also a regular stage and studio backing group for several local singers, primarily for “lady soul” Mrs Rottrová.
