In the mid-60s, all the way from Indonesia, there arrived in Spain The Black Dynamites. After changing their name a couple of times, first to The Black Magic (with an EP on RCA Spain) and then to the more explicit sounding Los Indonesios, they released a handful of singles and EPs that rank among the best of their career. The exotic provenance of this Asian band led them to appear in several B-movies, recruit a drummer and a keyboard player from their adopted country, win the Festival de Conjuntos de León in 1965 (and a few other festivals) and also release the first-ever Spanish-territory version of the great Bo Diddley’s menacing ‘I Can Tell’.
