Malalche, the group led by Simón Aliste, known as El Tavo, and which means “cornered people” in their native tongue, is the name of band that was persistently discreet. They never played gigs and little is known about the other members. Malalche was founded in 1979 and for three years they organised private sessions where a series of recordings were produced that were compiled for the album “Cahineando”, which came out in 1988. On this LP we find a tribute to Víctor Jara, together with long instrumental passages suffused with a dark progressive rock sound, associated with the so-called Rock in Opposition.
