Shabkhiz may just be Barry Gibb’s long lost twin brother, or at least his Iranian doppelganger. Although Shabkhiz was from Farrokhzad’s stable of musicians, he wasn’t always a musician, and hasn’t continued his musical career in exile. When he lived in Iran Shabkhiz worked for Air France, and when he moved to America he opened his own restaurant. His story is one of rags to riches. Shabkhiz came to America empty-handed and set up a television studio in the garage of his house. Armed with a simple low-tech video camera, he learned the tricks of trade and built an empire out of ashes; he now owns one of the largest Iranian satellite stations.
