Coco Lagos would play the conga drums for artists who passed through Lima, accompanying P\u00e9rez Prado, Or\u00e9fiche and Chano Scotty, among others. In the late 50s, he started working as a regular musician in the recently founded record company MAG, alongside musicians such as \u00d1iko Estrada, Mario Allison, Lucho Macedo… He would record two albums for MAG, always accompanied by the pianist Alfredo Linares, with whom he shared the credits for the musical arrangements.<\/p>\n
The outstanding \u2018Guajira Boogaloo\u2019 is taken from Lagos\u2019 second album \u2014and was also released as a separate single\u2014 and has become a much in-demand DJ favorite.<\/p>\n
On the flipside, Los Destellos deliver their killer \u2018Guajira Sicodelica\u2019. Los Destellos truly defined the sound of Peruvian cumbia with the incorporation of diverse influences and the use of electric guitars.<\/p>\n
