The difficulty of obtaining the records that were shaping the latest Anglo-American rock trends of the 1960s in many Spanish-speaking Latin American countries led to a proliferation of local bands covering their musical heroes. Well-known artists such as Cream, Jimi Hendrix, and Iron Butterfly were reinterpreted by countless groups, making these songs available to local audiences without having to rely on imported records reaching their countries. By doing so, these bands helped spread the cutting-edge rock music already making waves elsewhere in the world.<\/p>\n
What makes this release particularly unusual is that the band chose to cover second-tier cult acts rather than the obvious classics\u2014groups that only briefly cracked the U.S. Top 50 in the late ’60s, such as The Seeds and 13th Floor Elevators.
