The first LP by Buzzcocks, released in 1978 after Howard Devoto’s departure, is one of the truly essential puck rock records. It sounds fast and aggressive, raw and biting, but the band also possessed undeniable pop hooks and incorporated influences such as kraut rock. All these elements, along with brilliant songwriting, produced a record that sounds as intense and passionate today as thirty five years ago.
