Second album from Brazil’s Garotas Suecas, which sees them taking their signature freakbeat and Tropicalia sound to a magnificent new level where sophisticated soul and gentle psych intertwine to produce some of the sweetest grooves out there. Released in Brazil in 2013,Vampisoul is proud to present “Feras Míticas” worldwide and on vinyl for the first time.

After our first collaboration with Sao Paulo’s Garotas Suecas in 2011 on their album “Escaldante Banda”, Vampisoul is proud to present worldwide their fantastic new work, “Feras Míticas”, recorded at the end of 2012 and released in Brazil in 2013. The album is an ambitious step forward for the band, which sees them building on their previous freakbeat and Tropicalia sound towards a more fuller soul and funk production, beautifully arranged and broader in scope, both grooving sweetly on the dancefloor and adopting a more reflective stance at times. Featuring guest collaborations by Lurdez da Luz, Kid Congo Powers and Paulo Miklos, “Feras Míticas” consolidates Garotas Suecas as one of the most unique and interesting young bands internationally, possessors of a sound which is aware of the past but is clearly of now and always looks ahead brightly and with confidence.

Brazilian psychsoul- garage-pop combo Garotas Suecas. Sweaty, funky, exotic, committed, Garotas Suecas (Swedish Girls, in Portuguese) hail from São Paulo, Brazil and offer up a hearty, full-throated stew combining the best elements of their country's homegrown tropicalia with Anglo-American soul and freakbeat. While they are often compared to their 1960s forbears - including legendary fellow Brazilians Os Mutantes, Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso - Garotas Suecas are having the sort of early career success that the 21st Century uniquely affords: before even releasing a full-length album, through widely circulated singles, EPs and touring, the band generated an extraordinary amount of excitement from bloggers and critics. The band comprises Guilherme Saldanha (vocals and harmonica), Irina Bertolucci Chermont (keys), Perdido (bass), Sesa (guitar) and the Paoliello brothers, Nico (drums) and Tomaz (guitar). They formed in 2005, when they met as teenagers at an open mic night. They rehearsed in the home of an area poet, self-funded three EPs, toured Brazil, and improbably landed an MTV Video Music Award. Garotas Suecas are especially beloved for their sweaty, infectious live show: "We are down for playing anywhere where the crowd is down for shaking very hard to our music."
